Cascade, ID (CBS2) — The Forest Service has release an update on the East fire that is burning 10 miles east of Cascade. The East Fire has burned 4,158 since it was discovered on Wednesday.
Crews are currently working on the western edge of the fire digging containment lines, falling trees that might fall over containment lines and improving road access.
The weather has brought increased cloud coverage and humidity that has helped crews in their efforts. The weather has also brought wind that has created spot fires and pushed the growth in acreage.
The Great Basin Type 2 Incident Management Team will begin working with the current fire managers today to gain knowledge. The Command Post is located just south of Cabarton road and there will be increased fire traffic across HWY 55.
